Have Your Child Become a Model

Abstract: Help your child become a model, a role model! Make a difference in your child’s life, your life and the life of others.

The time is now! You have an incredible opportunity to help your child become a model! Give your child the gift that may change his/her life!  Give your child the gift that may change your life!  Give your child the gift that he or she will treasure for the rest of his/her life! It’s easy!  It’s fun! It’s rewarding! And best of all, it’s free! There is no doubt that your child will thank you for years to come! Yes, have your child become a model! This is not a hoax…it’s for real! We are not just talking about a magazine, TV or clothing model.  This is the opportunity for your child to become a real, live, honest to goodness ROLE MODEL!

Yes, it’s true! Introduce your child to the world of civility, kindness, cooperation, fairness, tolerance, respect… and much more!  Give your child tools not only to be able to help themselves, help others and help the earth, but also to be able to heighten his/her self-esteem, dignity and sense of community.  This offer never expires and is available to all children  (and even all adults)!

What, you may ask, is a role model? A true role model is someone whom others can look towards to guide them in developing, possessing and demonstrating good values, attitudes and behavior. It is the “demonstrating” that is actually the key component to being a role model because “demonstrating” is in fact, just another way of saying “modeling.”

Some things all role models have in common:

·      A role model is someone who knows how to respect themselves, others and the earth.

·      A role model is someone that can provide a good example to others of what it means to be a good person.

·      A role model is someone that is looked up to by others and can help guide others in becoming role models themselves.

·      A role model can be anyone at any age.

How do you get your children to become role models?  The easiest way is by being one yourself.  Children learn best and will often follow the example of behavior and language that they see and hear in their immediate environments, especially those at home and at school.

“Children act in the village as they have learned at home.”

                                                                            ~Swedish Proverb

Children are sponges, absorbing everything around them. They will learn and mimic attitudes and behaviors not only from adults but also from other children. That is why it is so important to make a concerted effort to surround children with positive examples of behaviors, attitudes and language that foster such attributes and qualities as the following:

·      Kindness

·      Fairness

·      Courage

·      Sincerity

·      Loyalty

·      Truthfulness

·      Cooperation

·      Empathy

·      Confidence

·      Responsibility

·      Forgiveness

·      Tolerance

·      Wisdom

·      Justice

·      Respect

·      Integrity

·      Love

·      Peace

…just to name a few.

Imagine what it could be like if all adults and children made an effort to model behavior that would never bring harm to themselves, other people, the environment or the world.  That would mean that everyone would be a role model for each other. Everyone would have the potential to influence someone else in a positive way. It would kind of be like the “trickle down” theory of civility.

So what are you waiting for?  Your child deserves the opportunity to become a model! You can show them how! Be a model yourself!  Be a role model! It can change your life…it can change someone else’s life…it can change the world!
